1)	Opposition leader the Hon. Arhnim Eustace speaking to the issue of corruption today said the Tenders Board should be allow operating independently.

The Tenders Board is there to see that the people of this country are not robbed; therefore the best job is expected to be done at the best evaluated bid.

Mr. Eustace however said that oftentimes this is not the case since the jobs are frequently given to party supporters. This attitude he added causes more harm than good to the country’s finances and taxpayers are the ones to shoulder this burden.

2)	An export development training workshop for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMES) in the services sector will take place here from February 29 to March 2.

The three day workshop will target small firms or professionals producing any type of service in the local market and who are interested in exporting their products.

The workshop aims to provide participants with a Roadmap to Exporting Services; to take participants through the 4-stage process of the SME roadmap – which includes preparing their business and assessing their export readiness, conducting market research, developing a “service-specific” marketing plan and entering the market; and to gain better understanding of their potential for exporting services – in particular conducting an export-specific SWOT analysis.

It will be facilitated by Enabling Environments Ltd in conjunction with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Consumer Affairs. This workshop is made possible with the support of the European Commission and is funded by the ACP-MTS Programme.
