C.K Greaves and Company is set to open a new supermarket in the Pembroke area. Valerie and Neville Greaves, Directors of the Company, said that they saw it necessary for residents on the Leeward Side of SVG to have a supermarket.
Valerie Greaves said that it is their hope that the area will be enhanced as a result of the supermarket, especially in the area of employment; as all the employees will be persons living on the Leeward Side of the island.
Neville Greaves further noted that the population of the surrounding areas of the new supermarket is constantly increasing, and so there is a need for them to have better access to a quality supermarket.
Meanwhile, Parliamentary Representative for South Leeward was very happy for the advent of a new supermarket in his constituency, as it will go a long way in creating employment for young people in and around the Pembroke area.
Stephenson said farmers in the area will also benefit as 86 farmers have been contracted to supply the supermarket with agricultural produce. He said he is delighted that farmers in the area now have a sure market to sell their produce.
The supermarket was built at an estimated cost of $14 million dollars.
