Teachers at the school however said that the no entry sign was placed there because the children’s safety was important.

Yesterday residents and business owners living and operating businesses in the vicinity of North River Road was perturbed about a sign that was placed in the area of the Roman Catholic School notifying the travelling public particularly drivers that the route was not to be used between the hours of 8am and 4 pm.

Nice Radio visited the scene yesterday and spoke with business operators who said the no entry sign was a hindrance to their daily operations. Teachers at the school however said that the no entry sign was placed there because the children’s safety was important. While the area was cordon off yesterday by the police and a decision was to be made today as to whether to open the road or not.

This morning a member of the News team visited the area and reported that the road is now open. We are however yet to receive an official statement from the traffic department.

Only in Vincyland that simple matters are turned into herculean task.

Lets not re-invent the wheel…restrict traffic just for kids being dropped off…all vehicles should have a sign-AN OFFICIAL PASS FROM THE SCHOOL to indicate as such. ALL THIS SHOULD BE DONE BETWEEN 7-9.30AM…open the road to main traffic from 10am-3pm…close from 3-4.30pm. In other words the morning commute and the after school/after work commute is what is being catered for…the business people has sufficient time to get their business in order between 10AM-3PM and from 5-until

Another thing, two traffic cops ought to be stationed in that vicinity right through the school year. I am not sure if that’s being done but if not, changes should be made.Riveroad is just too narrow a path to leave it up the discretion of drivers to navigate their way through unregulated.

The School should also have some say and be a willing participant in implementing these changes. The school must play a crucial role in getting their kids in and out of the school in an orderly fashion. It is their responsibility.

I read somewhere maybe on this site…someone suggesting that NO parking should be allowed during school hrs or something to that effect…sensible…the time frame that the police suggested is ideal for NO PARKING 8AM-4PM.
