PRESS Release Regarding the Egyptian Football Disaster

It is with a profound sense of sadness and deep regret that the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation (SVGFF) has learned of the senseless violence of football fans in Egypt that has claimed the lives of at least 74 persons and injured countless more.

The SVGFF strongly condemns such a vile and undesirable act which has cast a dark shadow on the beautiful game. Violence certainly has NO place in football and one life lost is one too many.

It is our fervent hope that the perpetrators will be brought to justice and there will not be a reoccurrence of such a catastrophic situation

Our thoughts and prayers are with Egyptian people and particularly the families of the deceased as they mourn the loss of their loved ones.

May their faith provide them with the strength that they need to carry them through this sad period.

Do we really have to send out these communiques? Really? Do these countries really give a damn in what we think? Egypt is in a state of unrest..they couldn’t care one iota about our condolences. Plus we all know that this communique is degradingly trite with a smidgen of the “I fee your pain” baloney.

Frankly my thoughts and prayers are not with the Egyptian people…as I HAVE NO VESTED INTEREST WHATSOEVER ON WHAT IS GOING IN EGYPT…JUST LIKE THEY HAVE NO INTEREST IN SVG. How about we keep our condolences nearer to home OR WHEN ITS REALLY NEEDED. Is not like Egypt will be waiting around with bated breath wondering where are the condolences from SVGFF.
