Customers of St. Vincent Electricity Services, Vinlec, can expect a reduction in the fuel surcharge rate applicable on their May bills due to an increased production of power at its hydro stations.Vinlec’s Communication Officer Tamara Job-Sprott says the increased rainfall in April has resulted in the increased hydro production at its plants.Mrs. Sprott says customers should see a fuel surcharge rate of 37.7 cents per unit, down from the 44.40 cents per unit in the previous month.Mrs Sprott says while certain external factors, like rainfall, cannot be controlled, persons can still monitor their energy consumption as a way of managing their monthly bills.
